Minister for Energy Muhammad Ali has said the government is working on transferring electricity distribution companies to the private sector.

Addressing a seminar in Islamabad on Wednesday, he said the transmission sector is also going through a major revamp and the country is expected to attract a lot of investments in this sector.

Muhammad Ali said there is a great potential for solar, wind and hydro generation in the country. He said we have recently asked for bids for a six hundred megawatts solar project. He said December is the deadline, expressing the confidence that the Korean companies will look participate in it.

On the oil and gas exploration, the Minister said we have started working on the on-shore side and now the offshore blocks will also be offered.
