Pakistan will continue to support all regional and international efforts that pave the way for a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine issue.
This was stated by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, while speaking at the United Nations Security Council meeting on Ukraine in New York.
He said Pakistan has consistently maintained that there is no military solution to the Ukraine issue.
Tariq Fatemi called upon the parties to demonstrate restraint, scrupulously adhere to the international humanitarian law and make meaningful strides towards de-escalation.
The Special Assistant said Pakistan also welcomes the ensuing political engagement, including direct talks between Russia and Ukraine, facilitated by the US President.
He said it generated optimism for an early end to this conflict and Pakistan sincerely hopes that these efforts will bear fruit.
