The Amnesty International has expressed concern over the demolition of houses in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and other human rights violations by Indian forces.

Addressing a news conference in Birmingham, Amnesty International officials Ms Astrid Laich and Fahim Kiyani, who is also President of Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, demanded that the demolitions going on in the occupied territory must halt.

They said the ongoing demolitions appear to be an extension of the brutal human rights violations historically witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir.

Meanwhile, in Geneva, speakers at a seminar held on the sidelines of the 52nd session of the UN Human Right Council have said land-grabbing drive is part of India’s settler colonialism policy to reduce Kashmiris to second class citizens in their own homeland.

The seminar was attended and addressed by renowned human rights activists, international law experts and representatives of different global Human Rights organizations.

The speakers expressed grave concerns over the land-grabbing drive after abrogating article 370 and 35A, the Modi government saying it is a calculated move to dis-empower the indigenous population.
