Waheed Ahmad (Former Ambassador): Pakistan’s relations with the US have not sailed smoothly over the last many years. But both countries realize that peace and stability in the region is very important for prosperity and welfare of people. Afghanistan is a hotspot in the region and both Islamabad and Washington have a permanent interest in seeking a stable and prosperous Afghanistan. The US can always remind the Taliban government of their commitments to Doha Accord to not allow their soil to be used against other countries. Both countries have much to benefit from enhanced cooperation in trade, economics, education, and people to people contacts.
