In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir complete shutdown is being observed today to mark the 40th martyrdom anniversary of prominent Kashmiri leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt.
Call for the shutdown has been given by All Parties Hurriyat Conference.
India had hanged Muhammad Maqbool Butt in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on 11th February in 1984 for his leading role in the Kashmiris’ ongoing freedom movement.
In their statements in Srinagar, APHC leaders paying rich tributes to Muhammad Maqbool Butt said martyrs are a real asset of struggle for freedom movement.
They said Kashmiri people will not allow the sacrifices of their martyrs to go waste and will accomplish their mission at all costs.

Posters appeared in different areas of occupied Kashmir asking the people to observe complete shutdown, today.
Senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference and Chairman of Democratic Freedom Party Shabbir Ahmed Shah has paid rich tribute to renowned Kashmiri liberation leader Muhammad Maqbool Butt on his martyrdom anniversary.
In his message from New Delhi’s Tihar jail, Shabbir Ahmed Shah said that Maqbool Butt was an icon of resistance movement who sacrificed his life for the cause of freedom.
Meanwhile, participants at a gathering in Brussels have paid rich tributes to the great Kashmiri martyrs Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru.
An international webinar was held in Dallas, Texas, on the martyrdom anniversary of Muhammad Maqbool Butt.
