Athletes and officials of Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad today.

The athletes shared their insights about Mixed Martial Arts Combat event, recently held in Lahore.

The Prime Minister said promotion of sports activities in the country is government’s topmost priority.

He appreciated the athletes for exhibiting excellent skills and said that government will extend all out support to the Martial Arts Federation for promotion of these games.

He said holding international events by Mix Martial Arts Federation in Pakistan is commendable.

Shehbaz Sharif said it is responsibility of the government to create enabling environment for the youth so they can harness their potentials.

He said government will ensure that our players, representing the country in international games, are fully sponsored.

On the occasion, the officials of Federation and athletes gave their recommendations and suggestions to further refine this genre of sports.

The Prime Minister directed the relevant authorities to review the proposals and devise strategy in this regard.

Pakistan Mixed Martial Arts Federation hosted Combat week in Lahore from 18th to 22nd of last month during which Pakistan won twelve gold medals in the Asian Martial Arts category.
