
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif says the government is keen to take Pakistan-China friendship to new heights.
He was talking to a delegation of Chinese garments group, Challenge Fashion Private Limited, which called on him in Islamabad today (Friday). The Chinese delegation was led by Chairman of the group, Huwang Weiguo.
The Prime Minister said the friendship between Pakistan and China holds a unique place in the world as both the countries have stood by each other in every moment of difficulty. He said the upward trajectory in the economic relations between the two countries is a source of satisfaction.
Shehbaz Sharif said the government wants the Chinese industries to set up their units in Pakistan. He lauded the trust of the Chinese garments group, Challenge Fashion Group, in the Pakistani market. He also welcomed the establishment of Special Economic Zone by the Challenge Group in Pakistan, saying that it will help in technology transfer, skill development and sustainable industrial growth.
The Prime Minister directed the authorities concerned to provide all possible facilities to the Challenge Group regarding Special Economic Zone.
He said the government is committed to promoting the industrial component of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
He further said Pakistan wants to benefit from China’s development and expertise in the textile sector.
The Prime Minister said China-Pakistan Business-to-Business Conference will be held in China soon, and added that it will provide an opportunity of collaboration for private enterprises of China and Pakistan.
In his remarks, Chairman Chinese garments group thanks the Prime Minister for extended excellent hospitality to their delegation.
He said the Chinese group, Challenge Fashion Group, has made investment of seventeen million dollars in Pakistan since 2014. He said the group is also establishing a modern textile industry in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister was briefed that one hundred million dollars investment will be made through this Special Economic Zone in next five years, resulting in expected exports of four hundred million dollars.
Later, the Prime Minister inaugurated the Challenge Group Special Economic Zone.
