Shafaq Waheed Dar and Khadijah Waheed Dar, both daughters of veteran weightlifter Waheed Ahmad Dar, won gold medals each in their respective bodyweight categories.
Shafaq Waheed contested in
48 kg bodyweight category and represented Wapda. She
Won the gold medal, by lifting
60 kg in snatch and 82 kg in clean & jerk event, with the best total of 142 kg.
On the other hand, Khadija Waheed Dar represented Army in 64 kg bodyweight category and bagged gold medal by lifting 73 kg snatch and 96 kg clean & jerk with the total of 169 kg.
Both were very excited on their success and proud of their parents, who groomed them for success with pride and confidence.
They expressed their resolve to represent Pakistan at international level and win medals for Pakistan, if they are provided international exposure and training.
Earlier Shafaq Waheed had
won golds at each of the 5th National Women Weightlifting Championship at Lahore in 2021 (with 2 national records), 34th National Games at Quetta in 2023, (with 3 national records), 6th National Weightlifting Championship at Lahore 2024 (with 3 national records).
Following foot steps of her sister, Khadija Waheed
also won silver medal in 64 kg bodyweight category in 5th National Women Weightlifting Championship, a gold medal each at the 34th National Games at Quetta and 6th National Weightlifting Championship at Lahore 2024 with a national record.
The nation is proud of Dar sisters and hope for their bright future.
