
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has inaugurated the Iqbal Flyover to ease traffic congestion and facilitate the residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony in Islamabad this evening, the Prime Minister appreciated Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi and the Capital Development Authority team for completing the project in a record time of 77 days at a cost of 1.4 billion rupees.
The Prime Minister also commended SP Operations, Islamabad, for ensuring the removal of illegal encroachments. He noted that such encroachments, if not addressed, can become a major obstacle in the design and implementation of urban planning.
Earlier, speaking at the ceremony, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely completion are the three priorities for development projects, and all these targets have been successfully achieved so far. He added that the construction of service roads along the Expressway is also being planned to manage light traffic.
He further revealed that the Shaheen Chowk project is expected to be completed within the next ten days.
Talking about the Islamabad Vision 2027, Mohsin Naqvi said the Prime Minister will be invited to advance this initiative. He added the Islamabad of 2027 will be different from what it is today.
The Interior Minister also announced plans to address the issue of water shortages.
