Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhary has said eleven hundred Pakistani students have returned from Afghanistan following the closure of the border between the two countries in October last year.
Responding to a Calling Attention Notice in the National Assembly today, he said most of these students returned via aerial route.
The Minister informed the lower House that nine hundred and forty-seven students are still in Jalalabad and Kabul and continuing their education.
He clarified that these students are not stranded at the border and our embassy in Afghanistan is providing full facilitation to these students.
Tariq Fazal Chaudhary also highlighted concerns about terrorism originating from Afghanistan. He noted that Afghan authorities have failed to provide assurances that their territory will not be used for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
Three bills were also laid before the House today.
These included: The Trade Organizations (Third Amendment) Bill, 2026¸ The Prohibition of Manual Scavenging and Protection of Sanitation Workers (ICT) Bill, 2026 and The Railway Connectivity and Modernisation Bill, 2026.
The Chair referred the bills to the standing committees concerned.
Capital Development Authority Bill, 2026 was also laid before the House today.
The House will now meet tomorrow at eleven am.
