Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain has assured there is no shortage of Urea or DAP in the country
He was chairing a weekly meeting of the Fertilizer Review Committee in Islamabad today to review the availability, distribution, and pricing of key fertilizers, particularly Urea and DAP, in the lead-up to the Kharif season.
The Minister categorically said that sufficient stocks are available to fully meet the requirements of the upcoming Kharif cropping season.
He emphasized that the Government is maintaining a vigilant and proactive monitoring mechanism to ensure uninterrupted supply and prevent any artificial disruptions in the market.
The Committee was informed that substantial Urea stocks will remain available throughout the Kharif season, with carryover reserves expected to stand at around five hundred seventy thousand tonnes by the end of the Kharif season.
Similarly, DAP buffer stocks are projected to remain stable, with approximately nnety six thousand tonnes available until the end of July, ensuring smooth availability during peak sowing months.
The Minister directed all stakeholders to ensure that fertilizers are distributed efficiently and reach farmers without delay.
He also made it clear that no company will be allowed to engage in hoarding or artificially inflate prices, warning that strict action will be taken against any such practices.
Highlighting the global context, the Minister noted that Pakistan has successfully maintained price stability by absorbing pressures through government interventions.
