Sylhet: Pakistan Test team head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed has confirmed that star batter Babar Azam is available for the second Test against Bangladesh.

The second Test of the two-match series will begin in Sylhet on Friday, with Bangladesh leading the series 1-0.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference in Sylhet, Sarfaraz Ahmed said Babar Azam appeared technically strong and mentally refreshed following his performances in the Pakistan Super League, adding that the team is pleased to have him back in the squad.

“Whenever a player does not perform well, criticism is normal. We are not new to such criticism from former players,” Sarfaraz said. “We are not concerned about social media talk; our focus is on the next match.”

He added that the playing XI would be finalized after the toss, noting that although the team is disappointed after the first Test, they are determined to make a comeback in the second match.

The head coach also expressed confidence in wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, saying he is expected to contribute strongly with both gloves and bat.

Sarfaraz further stated that the team has already planned the playing combination, but final decisions may change depending on weather conditions, as rain could impact selection choices.
