A high-level meeting on anti-smog measures was held at the Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Khushab Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Labar.
The meeting was attended by ADC Social Services Ghazala Kanwal, Deputy Director Agriculture Extension Abdul Majid Khan, DO Industries Muhammad Abdullah, Assistant Director Local Government Israr Ahmed Qureshi, the District Environment Officer, CEO District Council, Traffic Police officials and representatives of other relevant departments.
During the meeting, the District Environment Officer briefed the Deputy Commissioner in detail about ongoing anti-smog activities and enforcement measures. He also apprised the meeting of the environmental situation in mines and forest areas and the steps being taken to control pollution. Deputy Director Agriculture Extension Abdul Majid Khan briefed the participants on measures being adopted to protect crops from the potential effects of smog and prevent agricultural losses.
Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Labar directed the concerned departments to conduct regular inspections of all mines, factories and industrial areas located in forest and agricultural zones. He stressed that effective action must be taken against elements responsible for environmental pollution.
The Deputy Commissioner said that all necessary measures should be taken to protect the public and residential areas from pollution and provide citizens with a clean and healthy environment.
He made it clear that no NOCs would be issued for public areas and directed the strict implementation of environmental protection laws. He further instructed the District Environment Officer to take special precautionary measures in view of environmental changes and ensure immediate steps for cleanliness and environmental protection across the district.
Dr. Jahanzeb Hussain Labar emphasized that coordinated efforts by all relevant departments were essential to provide the people of Khushab with a clean, safe and pleasant environment.
