Director Information Sargodha Division Ahmad Naeem Malik held a special meeting with University of Sargodha Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Tasawwar Hayat and presented him with his newly published research-based historical book, “Tareekh-e-Sikandar Ka Gumshuda Baab” (The Lost Chapter of Alexander’s History). Professor Dr. Muhammad Ashraf of the Mathematics Department and Muhammad Usman, In-charge of the Public Relations Department, were also present on the occasion.
During the meeting, the author briefed the Vice Chancellor in detail about the contents of the book and its historical and academic significance. He explained that the book was the outcome of ten years of extensive research and explored the original, forgotten route associated with Alexander the Great’s return through the Sargodha region.
According to the author, the book presents several significant historical findings, supported by authentic references. These include ancient settlements dating back to the early period of Aryan civilization, more than 70 ancient mounds situated along the historical route, the historical significance of the Kirana Hills, and references to the Khokhar, Bharata and Sobhi tribes in the Rigveda and the Mahabharata.
Ahmad Naeem Malik said that the book was particularly valuable for the faculty members and students of the University of Sargodha, as it opened new avenues for research in archaeology, history, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), geology, geography, linguistics and other related disciplines.
He observed that the ancient human settlements discovered in the Sargodha region might be contemporary with major historical civilizations such as Harappa and Taxila, making the area an important subject for further archaeological and historical investigation.
On the occasion, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Tasawwar Hayat described the book as a valuable addition to the historical literature on Sargodha. Appreciating the author’s efforts, he said that well-documented research into local history could encourage students to pursue academic research and develop a deeper understanding of their region’s historical heritage.
The Vice Chancellor assured the author that the book would be placed in the university library and made available to relevant academic departments as a reference for research. He also expressed the university’s willingness to encourage further research projects on the subject.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ahmad Naeem Malik thanked the Vice Chancellor for his appreciation and encouragement.
