Strengthen cooperation with South American countries and build on successful trade and cultural relations. This will be the main motive of the working trip of Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský, who will visit Brazil and Argentina from 8th to 12th April 2024. This is also an important bilateral meeting because the last time the head of Czech diplomacy visited Brazil was in March 2002 and Argentina in April 2011.

South American countries have always been an important ally for Czechia. Brazil is Czechia’s largest trading partner in South America and Argentina has the largest and most active expatriate community in Latin America. In both countries, the visit will focus on the development of business cooperation and the strengthening of mutual investment. Other important topics will include cooperation in international organisations and regional issues.

First of all, Minister Lipavsky will visit Brazil from 8th to 10th April, where he will meet, among others, the Secretary General of Foreign Affairs, Maria Laura da Rocha, the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, and the Vice President of Brazil and Vice-President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, Gerald Alckmin,

Highlights of Minister Lipavsky’s agenda in Argentina on 11-12 April include meetings with Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship Diana Mondino, Minister of Defence Luis Alfonso Petri and Minister of National Security Patricia Bullrich.

The head of Czech diplomacy will also meet with representatives of the Czech expatriate community in both countries.
