The UN Security Council has passed a resolution urging scaled-up humanitarian aid access to Gaza after multiple delays.

After several days of intense negotiations, the resolution submitted by the United Arab Emirates was passed by the 15-member body by a vote of 13-0.

The US and Russia abstained during the vote, and all other members of the council voted in favour.

The resolution demands the parties to the conflict to allow and facilitate the use of all available routes to and throughout the entire Gaza Strip to ensure humanitarian assistance reach the civilian population in need.
