The Convener Chairman of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s Standing Committee on Corporate and Multinational Companies Affairs, Muhammad Shafique Swati, said that promoting investment is crucial for Pakistan’s prosperous future. He emphasized that internal stability, development, and infrastructure improvement can attract investors to Pakistan. Through business dialogue with corporate and multinational companies on the FPCCI platform, issues faced by them will be highlighted at all levels, and maximum facilities and ease will be provided to encourage significant investments in Pakistan.
He said this while addressing the business forum on the occasion of the committee’s meeting, which was attended by other committee members. Deputy Convener Dr. Hayaam Qayyum said that contact is being made with the corporate sector, and the committee will prepare comprehensive overseas trade reform recommendations in collaboration with relevant trade bodies and their representatives and present them to the government.
Sayed Sadat Hussain Shah, a renowned personality in the marketing investment and tourism development sector and a member of the committee, said that the business community should play an active role in creating a conducive environment in Pakistan. He emphasized that Pakistan has immense natural resources that can be developed to attract overseas corporate sector investment.
Asim Abbasi presented an overview of the country’s economic situation, stating that the business community has always played a significant role in national development. He stressed the need to prioritize investment in the country instead of capital flight and encourage foreign companies to invest in Pakistan.
Ayesha Khan, a representative of business entrepreneurs and a prominent figure in women’s empowerment, expressed her thoughts at the business forum, saying that women make up almost half of the country’s population, and projects are needed to bring them into the mainstream of the national economy. The committee will play a vital role in this regard.
Committee members Syed Abdul Hasan Bukhari and Raja Ashfaq Abbasi said that the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry is focusing on research and development, particularly regarding corporate and multinational companies. The committee will act as a think tank, consulting with all relevant experts to present actionable recommendations to the government, leading to significant improvements in the country’s economy and economic sectors.
Committee members Aga Amjad Ali Chaudhry, Manzoor Qasuri, and Azmi Nasser said that the government has appreciated the establishment of this committee, and interactive sessions between elected public representatives and corporate sector personalities will help achieve the national development agenda.
Abu Al Hassan Bukhari, Ali Hassan Engineer Usman Nawaz Basra, and prominent corporate industry figure Chaudhry Nawaz Basra expressed their thoughts, saying that as Pakistanis, it is our responsibility to think about our country’s development and stability. We should formulate a plan based on our experiences to address Pakistan’s economic issues and support industrial development initiatives being taken at the government level. This is possible when investment increases, leading to significant business and employment opportunities, and the country progresses.
