
The 58th death anniversary of Madar-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah was observed on Wednesday.
Fatima Jinnah, who was younger sister of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, was born in Karachi on July 31, 1893.
Fatima Jinnah played a vital role in creation of Pakistan. She worked alongside her brother Mohammad Ali Jinnah and brought the women of sub-continent on one platform in quest for achieving a separate homeland for Muslims of India.
Fatima Jinnah is called Madar-e-Millat or Mother of the Nation for her role in the Freedom Movement.
After the independence of Pakistan, she co-founded the Pakistan Women’s Association which played an integral role in the settlement of women migrants in the newly emerged state of Pakistan.
Fatima Jinnah passed away on this day in 1967 and was laid to rest next to her brother at the Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi.
