At least six police personnel, including a Station House Officer (SHO), were martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack targeting a police armoured vehicle in the Gomal area of Tank district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Monday.
According to police sources, the blast occurred near Kot Wali, around 25 kilometers from Tank city, when the armoured vehicle was traveling from Gomal to Tank. The powerful explosion completely destroyed the vehicle.
Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the scene immediately after receiving information and shifted the bodies and injured personnel to nearby hospitals.
Those martyred in the attack were identified as SHO Ishaq, ASI Sher Alam, Shafi, Hazrat Ali, Ehsanullah, and driver Majeed.
Following the incident, security forces reached the site, cordoned off the area, and launched a search operation to apprehend the perpetrators. Investigations into the incident are underway.
