
India ‘A’ edged Pakistan ‘A’ in the Group A fixture of the Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars by eight wickets here at the Terdthai Cricket Ground on Sunday. India ‘A’ chased the 94-run target with 59 balls to spare as Dinesh Vrinda struck an unbeaten half-century.
Pakistan ‘A’ elected to bat first and lost their first six wickets for just 41 runs in 9.2 overs. Opening batter Shawaal Zulfiqar struck 23 off 29 balls with the help of three fours. N0. 7 batter Gull Rukh and Anosha Nasir scored 21 and 17, respectively as Pakistan ‘A’ were bowled out for 93 in 18.5 overs.
For India ‘A’ skipper Radha Yadav, Saima Thakor and Prema Rawat picked up two wickets each, Minnu Mani and Jintimani Kalita dismissed one batter each.
In turn, pacer Waheeda Akhtar provided Pakistan ‘A’ with head start as she removed Humaira Kazi for a platinum duck. Player of the match Vrinda (55 not out, 29b, 12x4s) and Anushka Sharma (24, 26b, 4x4s) stitched a breezy 79-run stand, which was broken by left-arm spinner Momina Riasat in the ninth over.
Pakistan ‘A’ will face UAE women on Tuesday, 17 February at the same venue in their last Group ‘A’ fixture.
