Pakistan vs New Zealand Match Abandoned Due to Rain, Both Teams Share Points

The Super Eight Group 2 clash between Pakistan and New Zealand in the 2026 T20 World Cup was abandoned due to persistent rain, with both teams awarded one point each.

The match was scheduled at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, but continuous showers in and around the stadium made play impossible. The umpires eventually called off the game after assessing the wet conditions on the field.

The final cut-off time for the match was 9:46 PM, by which at least five overs per side were required for a valid T20 game. However, the rain persisted, and the match could not start before the deadline, leading to its cancellation.

Earlier, Pakistan had won the toss and opted to bat first in what was to be the opening Super Eight match, but heavy rain began immediately after the toss and continued without interruption, preventing any play.
