Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has said Pakistan’s foreign policy is rooted in safeguarding the security of its people while promoting peace, dialogue and economic cooperation.
Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad today, he said Pakistan remains committed to peaceful resolution of disputes.
Ishaq Dar reiterated that lasting stability in South Asia hinges on the just settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
He also called for reversal of India’s unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Underscoring Pakistan’s defence capability, he said the country possesses the will and capacity to respond decisively to any aggression, while continuing to pursue diplomacy as the primary instrument of statecraft.
Highlighting key partnerships, Ishaq Dar said Pakistan’s all-weather strategic cooperative partnership with China continues to deepen, while ties with the United States are expanding beyond security into trade, technology and investment.
Ishaq Dar said relations with regional countries, including Bangladesh, Central Asian states and Gulf nations, are being strengthened through high-level engagements and economic collaboration.
He termed economic diplomacy a central pillar of Pakistan’s foreign policy, focusing on investment, information technology, minerals, energy and manufacturing sectors to ensure national development and prosperity.
Referring to Pakistan’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2025–26, he described it as a reflection of global confidence in Pakistan’s principled and constructive diplomacy.
