Pakistan has categorically rejected unfounded allegations made by Indian representative at the UN General Assembly on the draft resolution titled “Promotion of Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue, Understanding and Cooperation for Peace.”
Replying on behalf of Pakistan, First Secretary Zulfiqar Ali said it was regrettable that India attempted to undermine the significance of unanimous adoption of this important resolution, which reflects international community’s commitment to harmony, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
He described India’s claims as falsehoods motivated by its military defeat in May.
Zulfiqar Ali highlighted Pakistan’s facilitation of Sikh pilgrims to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur through the Kartarpur Corridor, ensuring the safety and dignity of thousands of visitors, including a majority from India.
He said this initiative has earned global recognition, with UN Secretary-General António Guterres calling it a “Corridor of Hope,” and demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of religious minorities.
The First Secretary also criticized India as one of the world’s most intolerant states, noting that violence against minorities occurs under state patronage, with Muslims and other communities facing discrimination, persecution, and hate crimes.
Pakistan called upon India to end such practices and hold perpetrators accountable, stressing that progress should be measured by concrete actions and not rhetoric.
