Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz met with USAID Mission Director Wiraya Katesomwingsri to discuss matters of mutual interest, including the promotion of Pak-US relations and increasing cooperation across various sectors.

During the meeting, both parties agreed to enhance collaboration in trade, climate change, renewable energy, women’s economic empowerment, healthcare, and education. They also explored investment opportunities in light of future requirements, as well as ways to further strengthen relations between the people of both nations.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed her desire to leverage America’s expertise in green energy and modern technology to address climate change and environmental pollution. She highlighted the establishment of initiatives such as pink buttons and virtual police stations aimed at protecting women. Additionally, she noted that internships are being offered in innovative ways to develop skilled human resources.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of the partnership between Pakistan and the United States for regional development, peace, and security. She reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening US-Pakistan relations, asserting that the country is now safer and more peaceful than in the past.

She also stated that the PML-N government has set new standards for good governance and transparency, achieving significant successes in the fight against terrorism and extremism.

US Consul General Kristen Hawkins and USAID Punjab Chapter Representative Arisha Bano were present at the meeting.
