A powerful new spell of the monsoon season has wreaked havoc across several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with Swabi among the worst-hit areas. A cloudburst in the Darwandi area of Swabi triggered flash floods, leading to widespread destruction. At least 15 people have been confirmed dead, while dozens more have sustained injuries. Officials fear the death toll may rise as rescue operations continue.
According to police sources, the cloudburst submerged dozens of houses in the Darwandi area. Stranded residents sought refuge on rooftops to escape the rising waters. More than 70 people have been successfully rescued from the flood-affected zones.
Severe rainfall also caused urban flooding in the tehsils of Razar, Lahore, and Topi, where water gushed into homes, forcing families to evacuate to higher ground. In Stefa Mor, Gadoon, several individuals were reportedly trapped by flash floods and are awaiting emergency assistance.

In a separate incident in the remote mountainous village of Sarkoi Payan in Gadoon Amazai, the roof of a house collapsed due to heavy rain, killing four people, including two women and two children. Seven others were injured and have been shifted to Topi Hospital.
Local hospitals have confirmed receiving multiple casualties and injuries, with emergency services on high alert. In Tor Dher, the wall of a private school collapsed, and a van was seen submerged up to its roof in floodwaters.
Deputy Commissioner Swabi, Nasrullah Khan, confirmed that the cloudburst in Dalori village caused massive flooding, submerging numerous homes. He noted that due to the hilly terrain, the floodwaters gained dangerous momentum, also triggering landslides in several locations.
The district administration, along with rescue and relief teams, has been mobilized to affected areas. Additional teams from Haripur and Mardan have also been dispatched to support ongoing operations.
Authorities are urging residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious and cooperate with rescue teams as the monsoon system continues to pose a serious threat across the region.
