In India, 24 people have been killed and tens of thousands displaced due to severe flooding in the eastern state of Assam.

Heavy rains submerged several villages, forcing locals to seek shelter in squalid conditions, sometimes even on roads.

Hundreds of rescue camps have been set up to shelter those affected by the floods.

Disruption in road and rail transport has made it difficult for aid to reach remote areas of the region.
