In his message on World Hepatitis Day being observed today, he said the risk factors for disease need to be addressed on an urgent basis by ensuring safe blood transfusions, use of auto-disable syringes and strict infection control practices in all healthcare settings.

In his message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said keeping in mind the goal of eradicating hepatitis from Pakistan by 2030, the present government is taking steps on a priority basis to provide facilities for prompt diagnosis of this disease and ensure the treatment of patients.

He appealed to the public to take preventive measures against hepatitis at the individual level, get vaccinated and get regular screening tests to protect themselves and their loved ones.

The Prime Minister also appealed Media to play its key role in hepatitis awareness.
