Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Irfan Qadir has said resolution of conflict within the judiciary and upholding the principle of seniority-cum-fitness in the appointment of judges is the panacea to end the present crisis in the country.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Monday, he said the Supreme Court should focus on resolution of its internal differences for the sake of political and economic stability in the country.

He said judges should be elevated on the basis of seniority as it seems hard for a junior judge, who got out of turn promotion, to maintain his independence.

Irfan Qadir said the coalition government intends to strengthen the judiciary and the parliament.  Irfan Qadir said all the institutions are bound to work within their constitutional limitations.

He said supremacy of law and constitution is of vital importance in the best interest of the country.

Irfan Qadir said no one could be allowed to rewrite the constitution as the constitution is a sacred document.

Irfan Qadir said the government wants to strengthen the judiciary.
