The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) will continue to provide all possible support to the new caretaker government of Pakistan for improvement of health sector.

This was stated by Country Director UNICEF, Abdullah Fadil, who called on Caretaker Health Minister Dr Nadeem Jan in Islamabad on Monday.

During the meeting, the UNICEF Country Director also congratulated Dr. Nadeem Jan for assuming the office of the Health Minister.

Speaking on the occasion, the Caretaker Health Minister, while appreciating the UNICEF services in Pakistan in the health sector, said that the government is determined to eradicate polio from the country. He informed the UNICEF head that we are also working under an integrated strategy to control malnutrition and all necessary measures will be taken to keep people safe from the diseases.

Dr Nadeem Jan said we are also taking effective measures to promote breastfeeding and have a plan to launch awareness campaign in this regard.

The Health Minister said under the leadership of Caretaker Prime Minister, Pakistan will ensure all necessary measures for public interest and welfare of the masses.
