Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi has urged media workers to act responsibly during election reporting without aligning themselves to any political party.

Addressing an event organized by journalist’s community in Islamabad today, he said it is prime responsibility of the caretaker government to conduct elections in a free, fair and transparent manner. He categorically said we have no favorite in this race of political parties.

The Minister said the delimitation process is at final stage and media should highlight the real issues of general public so they can make a rational decision during the upcoming elections.

Expressing regret over the media owners’ discriminate attitude towards their workers, he urged the affected journalists to register a written complaint against such media houses so we can decide over this matter.

Regarding the murder case of Jan Muhammad Meher, he said the federal government with the support of provincial administration will make all out efforts to arrest the culprits.

Speaking on the occasion, PFUJ President Afzal Butt said elections will be held in a transparent manner and media shouldn’t misguide public over it.
