Illegally incarcerated Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Masarrat Aalam Butt has dismissed Narendra Modi’s recent announcements of development projects in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In a special message from notorious Tihar Jail in New Delhi, he said that Kashmiris are not striving for development or privileges but for their fundamental right to self-determination.

Masarrat Aalam Butt underscored the Kashmiris’ legitimate right to self-determination, affirmed by India to the international community and supported by numerous UN resolutions.

He criticized Modi’s visit as an attempt to mislead the international community about the dire situation in the occupied territory.

Rejecting India’s assertions of normalcy, he noted that IIOJK has essentially been turned into a military camp, with one soldier for every five residents.

He emphasized that genuine peace and development can only be achieved by resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions.

Meanwhile, at a seminar held alongside the 56th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, speakers highlighted the plight of women and children affected by conflicts in Kashmir and Palestine.

The speakers emphasized that foreign occupation fuels violence and bloodshed in both the disputed territories, making women and children the primary victims.

The seminar also called for the release of Kashmiri women prisoners, including Aasiya Andrabi, Naheeda Nasreen and Faheemda Sofi, detained in New Delhi’s Tihar jail under false charges and facing health issues.
