Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif distributed Honhaar Scholarships and laptops among students at a ceremony in Gujrat today.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat briefed the ceremony on the Laptop and Honhaar Scholarship programmes.
Under the initiative, 2,904 students of Gujranwala Division are receiving laptops, while 843 students are being awarded Honhaar Scholarships.
At the University of Gujrat, 846 students received laptops and 268 were awarded scholarships. At Nawaz Sharif Medical College, Gujrat, 47 students received laptops and 9 scholarships.
At Government College Women University Sialkot, 512 students received laptops and 160 scholarships. At University of Narowal, 281 students received laptops and 90 scholarships.
At Punjab University of Technology Rasul, Mandi Bahauddin, 12 students received laptops and 6 scholarships. At Gujranwala Medical College, 83 students received laptops and 28 scholarships.
At Khawaja Muhammad Safdar Medical College Sialkot, 98 students received laptops and 66 scholarships, while 1,025 students of government colleges received laptops and 216 scholarships.
Under the first phase of the Honhaar Scholarship Programme, 30,000 students are benefiting, while in Phase Two, 20,000 scholarships are being awarded to students up to the eighth semester.
