A delegation of the National Women Journalists Forum (NAWJF) attended a special ceremony organized in connection with World Thalassemia Day at Riaz Mansoor Trust Hospital. President of NAWJF, Farzana Chaudhry, participated in the event as the chief guest.

The NAWJF delegation included Kanwal Naseem, Rabia Azmat, Nabeela Akbar, Zahida Parveen Akram, Khalida Ashfaq, Nadia Amir, Amina Amir, and other members along with President Farzana Chaudhry. President of Riaz Mansoor Trust, Muhammad Nafees, warmly welcomed the delegation and presented bouquets to the chief guest.

During the visit, Muhammad Nafees briefed the delegation about the treatment facilities and services being provided to thalassemia patients at the hospital. He said that hundreds of children regularly receive blood transfusions at the center, while patients from Punjab as well as other provinces come there for treatment. He further stated that, in addition to blood transfusions and medical consultations, patients are also given Rs. 1,000 as travel assistance when returning home.

He informed the delegation that modern operation theaters of international standards had been established in the hospital’s surgical tower. Free treatment and surgical facilities in gynecology, orthopedics, general surgery, and ophthalmology are being provided to deserving patients. He added that the hospital’s advanced laboratory, equipped with modern medical technology and supervised by trained medical staff, offers safe and high-quality blood and diagnostic testing facilities to patients.
Addressing the ceremony, Farzana Chaudhry said that Riaz Mansoor Trust is a shining example of humanitarian service and that serving suffering humanity selflessly is a great act of worship. She remarked that the hospital has become a ray of hope for children suffering from thalassemia and for their parents.

She further said that the hospital is performing a noble mission by helping innocent children return to a healthy life. Appreciating the efforts of Muhammad Nafees and his team, she said that they had brought smiles to the faces of countless sick children and that the National Women Journalists Forum salutes their remarkable services.

Farzana Chaudhry also emphasized the importance of awareness campaigns for the prevention of thalassemia. She urged the government to approve legislation making blood screening tests mandatory before marriage in order to prevent the spread of this serious blood disease.

Later, under the leadership of Muhammad Nafees and the hospital administration, the delegation visited different departments of Riaz Mansoor Trust Hospital, including the Thalassemia Center, Blood Transfusion Center, and General Ward. The delegation met children undergoing treatment, spent time with them, and prayed for their speedy recovery. The members of the delegation highly appreciated the quality healthcare facilities being provided by the hospital.
