The United Nations says sixty-three percent of the total population of South Sudan is facing worse levels of food insecurity.

In a statement, UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said 2.9 million people are just one step away from catastrophic levels of food insecurity there.

Meanwhile, the UN mission has reinforced the number of peacekeepers to increase assistance to displaced people and possible human rights violations.
