Interior Minister Rana Sana Ullah says that the presence of immoral and offensive content on social media threatens anarchy and corruption in the society.

He was chairing a high level meeting in Islamabad on Friday to review cases of harassment of citizens on social media and uploading of immoral videos, blackmailing and immorality.

The Interior Minister said that strict action without any discrimination will be taken against those involved in such crimes.  

Rana Sana Ullah directed the concerned authorities to adopt zero tolerance policy against those violating moral values in the society.

Interior Minister Rana Sana Ullah further directed the FIA, PTA and other agencies to play an active role in protecting the self-esteem of the citizens and protecting them from harassment and blackmail.

It was decided in the meeting that crackdown would be launched on those who tarnish image of public by promoting immoral content on social media, harassing citizens and discrediting them.

The meeting also decided to make effective laws on cybercrime, especially harassment and insulting content uploading and advertising.

The meeting approved formation of a working group to make necessary amendments in PECA 2016 on the issue of defamation through harassment and immorality.
