The government has decided to hold Donors Conference for the rehabilitation of flood affected areas.

The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting in Islamabad on Monday with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the chair.

The meeting was aimed to review progress on the ongoing relief and rehabilitation activities in flood affected areas of the country.

Charing the meeting, the Prime Minister ordered to brief the international organizations on the flood disasters in the country and the rehabilitation efforts initiated by the federal and provincial governments.

He also directed to expedite relief and rescue operations in the flood-hit areas on emergency basis. Shehbaz Sharif directed to immediately send 40,000 tents and 100,000 ration packets to the affected areas.

The Prime Minister appealed to the philanthropists to donate in Prime Minister Flood Relief Fund to support the flood affected people.

Minister for Planning Dr Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman, Adviser to Prime Minister Ahad Cheema, Chairman NDMA Lt.Gen. Akhtar Nawaz and other government officials attended the meeting.
