Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar chaired a meeting on Friday to formulate administrative and legislative measures to prevent smuggling of goods.

Issues related to trial, prosecution and investigation processes regarding cases of smuggling were discussed at length.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said it is imperative to take measures for capacity building of investigating and field officer of customs.

 He said for that purpose training module must be designed in coordination with the Islamabad Bar Council’s legal and Education committee to impart specialized skills, knowledge and professionalism.

He said Federal Board of Revenue will provide a list of officers and first training will be held within a week. Additionally, the Minister for Law and Justice suggested to immediately establishing special trial courts in Quetta, Karachi and Multan.
