India has been ranked among five most dangerous countries in terms of press freedom and journalists’ security.

According to international media, crackdowns against journalists on one pretext or another to suppress their freedom of speech have become order of the day in India.

In a recent such move, New Delhi Police have raided the homes of several prominent journalists and authors in connection with an investigation into the funding of news website NewsClick.

These journalists and authors have been charged by police under anti-terrorism law and their mobiles and laptops have been seized.

Journalist fraternity say the move is an intentional attack on press freedom.
