President Arif Alvi says Pakistan has comprehensive legislation in place regarding human rights.

Addressing an event in connection with International Human Rights in Islamabad today, he said Pakistan is evolving and there is recognition of the rights of different segments of the society including the minorities.

He said the whole state machinery comes to action whenever any incident happens against the minorities.

The President stressed for the financial empowerment of women.

Arif Alvi voiced serious concerns over the situation in Gaza saying innocent people including women and children are being killed there.

The President called for a world order with no room for wars. He said the United Nations should pursue the goal of no wars in the world.

In his remarks, Caretaker Minister for Human Rights Khalil George said Pakistan is playing an effective role for promotion of human rights and peace. He said the Pakistani minorities carrying out their religious practices and celebrating their festivals manifest a sense of freedom and security in the country.
