At least three passengers were killed and ten others injured in a grenade and gun attack on a passenger coach traveling from Karachi to Quetta near Kalat on Tuesday, according to local authorities.

Police officials confirmed that unidentified assailants opened fire and hurled a hand grenade at the moving bus near Kalat. The attack resulted in the immediate death of three individuals, while ten others sustained injuries, two of whom are reported to be in critical condition.

Rescue teams quickly responded and shifted the deceased and injured to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital Kalat, where an emergency has been declared. Medical staff are currently treating the wounded, and security has been tightened in and around the hospital.

Government of Balochistan spokesperson Shahid Rind stated that security forces, district administration, and rescue services reached the scene soon after the incident. “Three passengers have been martyred and seven injured in the attack. Emergency measures have been put in place, and a search operation is underway,” Rind confirmed.

He added that security forces have cordoned off the area and are pursuing the attackers. “The culprits will be brought to justice,” he said, assuring the public that law enforcement agencies are actively working to restore peace in the region.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. The incident has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of civilian travel along major routes in Balochistan.
