Pakistan women’s batter Ayesha Zafar has expressed confidence in the team’s preparations for the upcoming Women’s World Cup, saying the squad is moving in the right direction after months of hard work.
Speaking to the media, Ayesha said the team has been preparing for the World Cup for the last six months and the overall performance in recent matches has been encouraging. She added that the players are focused on delivering strong performances regardless of the opposition.
The left-handed batter said the recent series against Zimbabwe provided the team with a major confidence boost, as the players successfully executed their plans during the matches.
Ayesha Zafar said Pakistan will look to carry the same momentum into the World Cup and believes the upcoming matches against Ireland and West Indies will help the team adapt to local conditions ahead of the tournament.
She acknowledged that the World Cup group is challenging, noting that every international side is capable of giving tough competition. However, she said the team plans to take the tournament one match at a time and prepare according to each opponent.
Commenting on her own form, Ayesha said playing against Zimbabwe helped improve her confidence and she hopes to maintain the same rhythm during the World Cup.
She also highlighted the balance within the squad, describing it as a strong combination of senior and junior players. According to Ayesha, Pakistan is aiming to build a fearless and aggressive side capable of playing ruthless cricket.
The experienced batter also praised young players Eyman Fatima and Gull Feroza for their attacking style of play.
