Prime Minister has announced reduction in prices of petrol by 74 rupees per liter and diesel by 67 rupees per liter.

In a post on X today, he said the new per litre prices of petrol will be 299 rupees and diesel 311 rupees.

The Prime Minister said dividends of the improved regional situation and reduced oil prices are being passed on to the public.

He said the government is fully aware of common people’s hardships, who demonstrated exemplary patience and resilience in this difficult situation. He expressed gratitude to the masses for standing by the government during these testing times.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that the government utilized its resources to mitigate fuel prices as much as possible from the very beginning of this crisis. He said the federal government provided maximum relief to the citizens. To provide respite against the skyrocketing oil prices, the government spent 129 billion rupees, secured through austerity measures and development budget.

The Prime Minister said despite the challenging economic situation in the region, Pakistan successfully avoided an energy crisis due to the government’s better planning at a time when some countries were compelled on fuel rationing.

He said there were no fuel shortages, no long queues at filling stations and the public did not face any scarcity of petroleum products due to the timely and prudent steps taken by the government.

Shehbaz Sharif also extended his gratitude to the provincial Chief Ministers, noting that the federation and provinces fully cooperated to keep the national economy stable.

He said the government took every possible step to protect the public from global inflation.

He vowed to continue taking effective measures to maintain economic stability and reduce inflation.

The Prime Minister underscored that the government not only adopted austerity measures at the official level but also provided targeted subsidies to underprivileged segments of society throughout the crisis. He said providing maximum relief to the public remains the government’s top priority.

Reflecting on international diplomacy, the Prime Minister said Pakistan’s successful mediation led to peace in the Middle East.

He said the ‘Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding’ was signed, which is a landmark document.

The Prime Minister extended special congratulations to Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, praising his tireless efforts and professional capabilities to materialize the peace agreement possible.

He also paid rich tribute to Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and the entire team of the Government of Pakistan for their sincere and active participation in the peace efforts.
