In India, ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party, aiming to promote Hindutva ideology, has scrapped the four per cent quota for Muslims in jobs and education in state of Karnataka.

This was announced by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai in Bangeluru at a presser. He said a cabinet sub-committee recommended the changes in quota categories and we have done it.

The Muslim Waqf board has expressed displeasure over the Karnataka government’s decision and termed the latest move by the BJP-led government as an attempt to polarise votes in the poll-bound state.
