President Dr. Arif Alvi has called for active participation of all segments of society to overcome the sufferings of visually impaired people.

Addressing a ceremony in connection with the World Cane Safety Day in Islamabad today, he stressed the need to devise a policy for learning of teachers about the modern techniques of education specifically designed for visually handicapped children.

The President also emphasized imparting education to visually impaired children along with the common students so that students can also contribute their learning process.

He applauded the steps taken by NAVTCC for learning the skills to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to ensure their valuable role for the betterment of society.

Dr Arif Alvi expressed pleasure that about eighty percent of the banks in the country are easily accessible for PWDs.

Highlighting the importance of advanced technologies to bring comfort in the lives of PWDs, he said a smart connection is now possible between impaired muscles of body with brain with the device of Brain Computer Interface.

Dr Arif Alvi expressed hope that Artificial Intelligence will also greatly address the issues of handicapped in near future.

He commended the role of Ministry of Human Rights for the empowerment of the PWDs saying that now it is imperative for employers to allocate a specific quota of job employment for PWDs.
