The Election Commission of Pakistan, on demand of the political parties and to facilitate the candidates, has extended the date for filing of nomination papers for the next general elections for two more days.

According to revised schedule issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan, scrutiny of the nomination papers, beginning on Monday will continue till 30th of this month.

Appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed by 3rd of next month, which will be decided by 10th of January.

The Election Commission will publish the revised list of candidates on 11th January, while candidates can withdraw their papers by 12th of January.

Electoral symbols will be allotted on 13th January, and general elections will take place on 8th February.

Meanwhile, Former Prime Minister and PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif submitted nomination papers from NA 132 Kasur constituency for general elections 2024 today.

On the other hand, the nomination papers of PML-N Quaid Nawaz Sharif have also been obtained from Lahore.

According to the sources, Bilal Yasin will be the covering candidate for Mian Nawaz Sharif.

Submission of nomination papers for general elections is also in progress at Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions.

Chief of Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party Jahangir Khan Tareen submitted his nomination papers from NA-155 Lodhran today.

Talking to media persons on the occasion, he said his party wants to bring economic reforms to generate more job opportunities for the youth.

He said committees are working for seat adjustment with PML-N.

Former Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani submitted his nomination papers from NA-148 today. Former Federal Minister Sikandar Hayat Bosan filed papers for NA 148 Multan.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the process of receiving nomination papers by the Election Commission of Pakistan for the forthcoming general elections is also in progress.

According to the spokesman of Provincial Election Commissioner Sohail Ahmad, so far 358 nomination papers have been issued on reserved seats for women and minorities.

Meanwhile, 263 nomination papers have so far been filled for the reserved seats for women and minorities for national and provincial assembly.
