
Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has announced a comprehensive code of conduct in consultation with Ulema and religious scholars of all schools of thought for maintaining peace and religious harmony during Muharram ul Haram.
The announcement was made at a meeting of Ulema and religious scholars chaired by Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf in Islamabad on Monday.
As per the code of conduct, all schools of thought will make sincere efforts for establishing an atmosphere of tolerance, respect and harmony.
Scholars of all schools of thought will remain united on issues of national interest and will express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri and Palestinian people. They will also mention their sacrifices and oppression being inflicted on them in the context of Karbala incident during the speeches.
The Ulema will create balance and moderation in their speeches and writings and avoid any provocative statements or writings that may hurt sentiments of others. Sectarian disputes will be resolved through mutual consultation and reconciliation and defamation sacred entities and personalities on any public platform will be avoided.

The Federal government has also appealed to the provincial governments to hold such meetings at provincial and district levels to ensure an atmosphere of interfaith harmony throughout the country during Muharram ul Haram.
