
Hafiz Abdul Karim of PML-N has won the Senate election on a general seat in Punjab.
According to Presiding Officer Sharifullah, Hafiz Abdul Karim secured 243 votes defeating Meher Abdul Sattar of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf who got 99 votes.
In this election, out of 368 eligible members, 345 votes were cast with three votes declared invalid.
The seat had become vacant following the death of Professor Sajid Mir.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has congratulated and expressed his best wishes to Hafiz Abdul Karim.
The Prime Minister expressed that Hafiz Abdul Karim would play his active role in the supremacy of constitution and prosperity of the country.
He further observed that election to Senate seats was a continuation of the democratic system.
