President Asif Ali Zardari has said Pakistan and China are iron brothers and their bilateral cooperation in China-Pakistan Economic Corridor will lead to the development of the entire region.

In an interview with China Global Television Network’s programme “World Today”, he said China and Pakistan are all-weather friends with shared future. He said collaboration between the two brothers has now reached to space as China is supporting Pakistan in aerospace sector as well. 

The President termed CPEC as the great futuristic concept and flagship project of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative. He said the successful implementation of CPEC will help entire region to progress and enhance connectivity.

President Zardari described his recent visit to China as memorable saying that it was basically a goodwill visit as China is the future and the entire East will have to work with Beijing. 

The President said wherever he went during the visit, the Chinese people showed their immense love. He said human heart can only be won through love and the love of the Chinese people takes him to China again and again.

The President said Pakistan and China are partners and cooperation between the two countries is growing rapidly in various sectors including agriculture, energy, railways, education, health and tourism.

He stressed that Pakistan needs to achieve agricultural self-sufficiency to secure its future and utilize China’s experiences in the fields of water conservation, modern irrigation and renewable energy.

President Asif Ali Zardari said China’s modern train system is remarkable, and Pakistan also wants to benefit from Chinese technology in the railways.

He said Pakistani ports are the closest to China and their development will provide immense employment opportunities to the youth.

He said a number of joint projects are being implemented with Chinese support in the energy sector, and to generate electricity through solar and other renewable energy sources.

The President, while describing the water as fuel of the future, emphasized the need to further enhance bilateral cooperation particularly in generating power through hydel sources.

He made it clear that Pakistan has supported China’s stance at every global forum and will continue to stand with China in all circumstances.

President Zardari said Pakistan believes in peaceful coexistence and that moving ahead on the path of development is the right of every country. However, everyone must respect each other’s sovereignty.
