President Asif Ali Zardari has termed Djibouti an important partner in Pakistan’s Africa policy.

He was talking to Ambassador-designate to Djibouti, Aqsa Nawaz, who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad today.

The President said he looks forward to stronger ties with Djibouti. He noted that the relationship rests on shared faith, cultural ties and regional proximity, and said the opening of Pakistan’s Mission in Djibouti in 2022 showed Pakistan’s long-term commitment.

Asif Ali Zardari welcomed the coordination between the two countries at the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and called for deeper cooperation in agriculture, education, tourism, trade, logistics and maritime sectors.

The President congratulated Ms Aqsa Nawaz on the new role. He expressed confidence that during her tenure the two countries would deepen people to people ties and advance a stable, forward looking partnership.
