Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has said that in an Islamic state, no one except the state has the authority to declare jihad.
He expressed these views today (Wednesday) while addressing the National Ulema and Mashaikh Conference in Islamabad.
He said that terrorism is not Pakistan’s way; it is India’s habit. “We do not strike the enemy from hiding; we challenge and confront them openly. With God’s help, we achieved victory in the battle for truth.”
The Field Marshal further said that there is a deep connection between the State of Madinah and the State of Pakistan, and that Allah has bestowed upon Pakistan the honor of being the protectors of the Two Holy Mosques among all Muslim countries. He said the defense agreement is historic.
He added that honor and strength are not gained through division but through hard work and knowledge. “Where nations abandon knowledge and the pen, chaos and corruption take root.”
The Field Marshal urged the religious scholars to keep the nation united and to broaden the nation’s vision.
